Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine
Dr. Stefan Kluzek is a Clinician Scientist specializing in Sport and Exercise Medicine, focusing on biomechanics and musculoskeletal (MSK) health. As an Associate Professor, he leads research on injuries and chronic conditions affecting active populations, particularly the metabolic and hormonal factors contributing to muscle and joint pain.
His medical career began in the North East of England, followed by advanced training in Oxford, where he completed a Master’s degree and a PhD on joint injuries and osteoarthritis. He has served as an Academic Clinical Lecturer and senior clinician-scientist for over two years.
Currently, Dr. Kluzek is a Consultant in the NHS and a Senior Physician for the English Institute of Sport, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of MSK disorders. His research focuses on inflammation in osteoarthritis and includes the Significant Ankle Ligament Injury (SALI) cohort study, aimed at identifying predictors of osteoarthritis development post-injury.
Through his work, Dr. Kluzek is advancing the fields of biomechanics and MSK health, with a commitment to improving patient outcomes in sports medicine.
